Qualifications and Accreditation
Shaunna holds a MA(Hons) in Counselling and Psychotherapy from Dublin Business School. She is accredited with Irish Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (IACP) and CORU (Regulating Health and Social Care Professionals). As part of her practice she attends regular continuous professional development training and committed to the codes and ethics of the IACP, and Irish Association for Humanistic and Integrative psychotherapy (IAHIP).
Shaunna received training in the area of Humanistic and Integrative model of psychotherapy. In her practice she is grounded in Rogers Person Centred approach and draws upon a number of different therapeutic theories and techniques; Psychodynamic Psychotherapy, Cognitive Behavioural techniques, Gestalt, Mindfulness and Existentialism.
Counselling Experience and Areas of Interest
Shaunna has spent a number of years working with people who suffer with depression, anxiety, stress and illness (acute/chronic). She works on a one to one basis and takes a humanistic, client led approach to her work, with a particular emphasis on how early relationships can have an impact on our current lives and relationships. She works collaboratively with her clients to ensure that the best approach is used to meet their needs. Depending on the needs of the client, she works with the client to uncover the unconscious material that keeps the individual stuck and empowers the client to develop their own internal strategies to deal with life’s challenges.
Shaunna has a background in Medical Social Work and is accredited with CORU. She has provided therapeutic service for over 11years and working in private practice for a number of years. Working in a clinical setting has afforded Shaunna the opportunity to work with various different social and emotional issues, giving her a greater understanding of the needs presenting within a therapeutic relationship. She has 5years experience in developing and delivering 6 week stress management program in outpatient hospital setting.
She has a keen interesting in shame and guilt, social anxiety, difficulties in relationship that stem from early trauma in childhood development. Shaunna works with people who are struggling with lost, grief and change issues.
Shaunna’s fee is €50 per 50min session.
